You’re Invited to the World Domination Summit

To one of the most incredible and extraordinary events called the: World Domination Summit (a.k.a. WDS).

Mark your calendars and save the dates: July 11th – July 17th, 2017

Each year 1000+ amazing and wonderful individuals make the journey to Portland Oregon to think and respond to this central question, “how can we live remarkable lives in a conventional world”.

For the last three years, Michelle and I have been part of this awesome event as both volunteers and now as part of the core planning team. For those of you that know us, this event has been a huge part of our lives, and maybe the biggest influence on why we are currently traveling around SE Asia as full-time digital nomads. From this annual gathering we were able to learn about many unconventional strategies people use to live out their dream lives. Not only were we able to learn from others, but more importantly, we’ve made some great friends and are now part of a community that wants to help each other out.

But this post is not about us. This post is about you because we want you to come to WDS 2017 in July.

So….What is it?

WDS is NOT a conference, it’s a gathering. It’s an opportunity for people to come together and create fun memories together. It’s a chance for people to meet each other, to learn from each other, and to reflect on the kinds of lives we want to live.

The way this is done is through a variety of activities that all reflect the WDS core values of Community, Adventure, and Service:

MAIN STAGE SESSIONS
WDS weekend features main-stage speakers. Many of these talks share personal reflections and valuable life lessons that are meant to inspire and help us in our own journeys. It’s not about selling a product or a service. Speakers are not about self-promotion but about serving others. Former speakers include: AJ Jacobs, Brene Brown, Scott Harrison, Gretchen Rubin, Donald Miller, and Kid President.

In addition to main-stage speakers, there are several shorter story-telling elements and in true WDS fashion, elements of surprise, delight, and whimsy.

When: Saturday and Sunday of the WDS weekend

ACADEMIES
Every year we ask several community members and former main-stage speakers to lead half-day workshops we call Academies. The purpose of these workshop-like events is to help people learn a new skill or gain the knowledge and information needed to level-up your life. Former topics have included: how to learn a new language, how to travel hack, how to land a book deal, how to be a better blogger, how to travel for a long time with children, how to live and work from anywhere, etc…

When: Academies take place in the days leading up to the Main Stage and the Monday after.

MEETUPS
One of our favorite things about WDS is that we ask the community to play an active role in hosting their own activities throughout the week. There are three different types of Meetups: workshops, networking, and activities. The idea is that anyone that attends can use our website and mobile app to host a meetup. Other attendees RSVP using the same website and app. Last year we had over 150 attendee-led meetups, doing a variety of things throughout the city. It’s a great way to share your expertise and knowledge, to meet others that share your passions and interests, or to just do something fun together as a group.

When: Takes place throughout the entire WDS week.

ACTIVITES
At WDS you’ll find a variety of events that we host to help bring people together and create fun memories. Similar to meetups, some of these events are social, some have a networking/discussions focus, and some are purely to get people together to do something fun. The difference is that these are officially WDS-hosted and not attendee-led.

When: Takes place throughout the entire WDS week.

PARTIES
There’s nothing like being a part of a big celebration with amazing people. At WDS we host a welcome party and then a big closing celebration. Lots of fun.

When: Friday evening and Sunday evening of WDS.

Who is it For?

Have you ever felt that the conventional wisdom we’ve been told all our lives on how to become successful and how we should live our lives wasn’t a good fit for you? Have you ever found yourself saying “I wish I had more money/time/resources to go do the things I want to do?” Maybe you’ve never asked yourself what you truly want for your life. Maybe you have asked but you didn’t think it was possible. If you’ve had any of those thoughts or asked any of those questions, WDS is for you.

WDS brings together a truly diverse group. The youngest attendees have been teenagers (if you don’t count the babies) and the oldest attendee last year was in her late 80s. In other words, age doesn’t matter. Attendees travel from all over the world to attend, including Switzerland, India, Dubai, Singapore, Ireland, and Japan (just to name a few). And it doesn’t matter what stage you are in your life. Whether you have a conventional 9-5 job, are an entrepreneur, or in transition. WDS attracts bloggers, adventurers, foodies, yogis, health advocates, personal coaches, authors, entrepreneurs, travelers, etc… What brings all of these people together again is that question: How can we live remarkable lives in a conventional world?

This community wants to know what you are passionate about, what talents, gifts, and experiences you bring. This community wants to share the same with you. This amazing community believes that all lives have incredible worth and value, and that it is possible to live out your own story and not just what others say you ought to do with your life.

How Do I Get Tickets For #WDS2017
